A Anthesis Case Study
Anthesis was commissioned by a UK retailer to address a challenge within its delivery operations. The company, an online retailer, was experiencing a driver shortage that was exacerbated by the Covid-19 pandemic. This situation highlighted health, safety, and labour risks, including concerns over working conditions and low pay within its self-employed driver model, prompting the need for an independent due diligence assessment.
To provide a solution, Anthesis conducted a comprehensive analysis of the retailer's labour practices. This involved benchmarking against competitors, reviewing due diligence processes, and identifying key risks in the self-employed model compared to an employed one. Anthesis provided the retailer with insights into these labour risks, highlighted best practices and gaps, and delivered a set of recommendations for mitigation. This work equipped the retailer to benchmark its performance and set a clear direction for future improvements to its driver model and corporate social responsibility behaviours.
