Case Study: Bristol & Anchor Almshouse reduces heating costs and speeds payback with Anthesis energy modelling

A Anthesis Case Study

Preview of the Bristol & Anchor Almshouse Case Study

A Bristol based charity asked us to explore different options for replacing the aging and inefficient heating systems in its properties

Bristol & Anchor Almshouse, a charity providing housing and a community center in Bristol, faced a challenge with its costly and aging heating systems. They sought to explore new heating options to reduce expenses. They engaged the sustainability consultancy Anthesis to model different decarbonisation and energy transition scenarios to identify the best solution.

Anthesis conducted a detailed analysis of energy consumption and modeled four future scenarios. Their analysis identified that installing a new communal gas boiler for the cottages represented the smallest investment and quickest payback period. Following this advice, the charity chose this option. Anthesis also secured Energy Company Obligation funding, which further reduced the project's capital cost for the charity.
