Turbomeca Reduces Helicopter Engine Control Software Development Time with SCADE Suite

Turbomeca, the Safran group company and a world leader in helicopter engines, faced the challenge of rapidly developing reliable engine control software for its Arriel and Arrano families while meeting DO-178B/C certification and avoiding errors introduced by time-consuming manual coding. To address the need for faster, more consistent code and better code management, Turbomeca turned to ANSYS and its SCADE Suite as part of a model-based design approach.

ANSYS SCADE Suite was integrated into Turbomeca’s G4 process (requirements management, model-based design, simulation, test automation and qualified code generation), bringing model checking, reusable symbol libraries and automated code generation that catch issues early and promote reuse. As a result of ANSYS’s solution, Turbomeca cut development time by 30%, halved the number of open problems on certified versions, and successfully flew the ARRANO 1A with control software developed using SCADE Suite.
