Time and Cost Savings and Improved Performance Achieved with ANSYS DesignSpace Simulation Software

Plantool, a Finnish production-automation company with 30 years’ experience designing tailor-made special machines and production lines, faced high risk because custom machines cannot be prototyped and must be right on first build. To address the need for flexible, early-stage structural analysis using existing 3-D models, Plantool adopted ANSYS DesignSpace from ANSYS for virtual prototyping and simulation.

ANSYS implemented a solution integrating ANSYS DesignSpace with Autodesk Inventor so designers could analyze large assemblies with minimal defeaturing, evaluate multiple alternatives cost-effectively, and optimize structures early in the design process. As a result, ANSYS enabled Plantool to reduce overall project time, produce fewer design changes during testing, eliminate the need to learn new CAD analysis software, and achieve cost savings alongside improved machine performance and reliability.
