A ANSYS Case Study
Robopac, a global leader in stretch wrapping machines, faced reliability and cost challenges with its Rotowrap rotating-arm design: welded metal-box construction created seam weaknesses and higher production costs. To tackle this, Robopac engaged ANSYS and used ANSYS Mechanical together with ANSYS SpaceClaim to drive a redesigned, more robust machine.
Using ANSYS Mechanical for static and transient dynamic analysis and ANSYS SpaceClaim for geometry optimization, ANSYS helped Robopac replace welded plates with tubular structures, quantify start-up and emergency-stop loads, and eliminate structural problems. The outcome: wrapping speed increased from 12 to 15 rpm, production cost fell by 30%, development time was cut from 30 to 18 months, and sales grew by more than 150%.
