A ANSYS Case Study
Dürr Systems Inc, a global supplier of automotive paint‑shop and final‑assembly systems, faced very long, time‑dependent CFD runs—especially radiation models that can require months of computation—and needed to reduce solve time by lowering cell counts without losing accuracy. To tackle this challenge, Dürr used ANSYS and its meshing product ANSYS ICEM CFD.
ANSYS ICEM CFD’s features—natural size, mesh density control, and tetra‑to‑hexa conversion—allowed Dürr to significantly reduce cell counts while maintaining solution quality; the tool’s tolerance for poor CAD, mixed geometry support and multi‑processor capability sped workflow further. By using ANSYS ICEM CFD, Dürr reduced CFD simulation time by more than 27%, enabling previously lengthy radiation analyses to complete in a reasonable timeframe.
