A ANSYS Case Study
Raetech Corporation, a U.S.-based motorsports-focused automotive design and analysis firm, needed to turn imperfect CAD surface models into reliable structural and CFD meshes for linear, nonlinear and fatigue analyses as well as engine component comparisons. To tackle this challenge they adopted ANSYS and specifically the ANSYS ICEM CFD meshing solution.
Using ANSYS ICEM CFD with the CATIA V4 importer and SolidWorks plug-in, ANSYS enabled Raetech to build boundary geometry, generate solid and surface meshes via Tetra and Octree methods, and export structural meshes to ANSYS and CFD meshes to ANSYS CFX. The result, as Raetech’s Kevin Kwiatkowski reports, is a phenomenal reduction in turnaround time from imperfect CAD to fully meshed models, minimal geometry cleanup, excellent CAD interoperability, and faster, more reliable analysis cycles.
