Perplexus, maker of the award‑winning 3‑D puzzle toys, faced a long-standing design bottleneck: modeling each intricate maze required hundreds of hours and dependence on outside CAD experts, slowing new versions and prototypes. To overcome this, Perplexus turned to ANSYS and its SpaceClaim software so the creator could take control of 3‑D modeling without outsourcing.
By learning and using ANSYS SpaceClaim, Perplexus now builds full concept designs in‑house, prototypes via 3‑D printing and waterjet cutting, and ships finished models to manufacturing partners in Utah. ANSYS SpaceClaim has drastically reduced design hours and rework, enabled more complex models and large‑scale artworks (including a four‑foot stainless steel labyrinth), and contributed to business wins such as 16 toy industry awards, including “Game of the Year” for Perplexus Epic in 2013.
