Optimizing Design in Developing Innovative Products

Bühler Motor Group, a global developer and manufacturer of mechatronic DC drive solutions and a Tier 2 automotive supplier, needed to accelerate design and development while optimizing components before building prototypes. To tackle this, Bühler uses ANSYS tools—specifically ANSYS Mechanical, ANSYS Emag and ANSYS Structural—in its 3‑D CAD and finite‑element virtual design process at the Nürnberg development center.

Using the ANSYS suite, Bühler simulates flux density, power and torque to optimize materials and applies structural analysis to locate stress hotspots and deformation, delivering highly optimized, standards‑compliant designs. ANSYS-enabled simulation has reduced development iteration, led in some cases to prototypes becoming final products, and produced test results that agree with simulation, improving product safety and time to market.
