Murray - Customer Case Study

Murray, a long-established outdoor power equipment manufacturer, needed to rush its new Power 2 Steer snowthrower into production to avoid losing a strategic retailer. The company faced a short development window to validate how a proprietary clutch assembly affected stresses, deflections and fatigue life across drive shafts, bearings, subframe and chassis with minimal physical prototyping, so it turned to ANSYS (ANSYS Mechanical) simulation capabilities via ITI Manta to accelerate analysis.

ITI Manta used ANSYS Mechanical in a simulation-driven, parametric workflow to rapidly iterate and optimize component designs, minimizing stress, deflection and material use while verifying results with targeted prototypes. Thanks to ANSYS-powered simulation the design met the seasonal launch on time, product cost was reduced, the Power 2 Steer’s dual-wheel traction (effectively twice the traction of competing designs) improved maneuverability, and sales volume has continued to grow.
