A ANSYS Case Study
Makita, a global power-tool manufacturer, needed to speed up product development and improve design quality by integrating CAE into its 3-D design workflow. Facing limited internal CAE know-how, skepticism from designers, and the need to validate analysis against experimental data, Makita sought a tool that could directly process Pro/ENGINEER CAD data and support both linear and nonlinear structural analyses—ultimately selecting ANSYS DesignSpace from ANSYS.
ANSYS delivered a CAD-friendly CAE solution plus training and analyst support so designers could run elastic and nonlinear checks themselves, validate results against tests (for example, deformation and reaction-force curves for an impact drilling hook closely matched experimental data), and reduce design iterations. By adopting ANSYS and building internal CAE know-how, Makita shortened development cycles, increased CAE use in product planning, and improved design quality through more rapid, validated virtual testing.
