Liebherr-Werk Ehingen GmbH, a global leader in mobile and crawler cranes, needed to speed up design and analysis while developing new, higher‑capacity products that meet strict safety and standards requirements. To address longer development cycles and complex structural challenges, Liebherr turned to ANSYS and its ANSYS® Mechanical™ finite-element tools as part of its virtual design process.

ANSYS delivered advanced simulation capabilities that let Liebherr analyze complex nonlinear behaviors (for example, plate and shell buckling), optimize components, and validate prototypes so they meet planned workloads and compliance criteria. Using ANSYS products reduced design and analysis time, increased simulation accuracy, and helped Liebherr produce safer, more reliable cranes—often with the prototype serving as the final production model.
