KeelWit, a Madrid-based engineering firm specializing in energy efficiency and CFD, faced the challenge of designing Europe’s tallest vertical wind tunnel—an environment requiring large meshes and intensive turbulence and heat-transfer simulations. To scale beyond on-premises workstations and achieve client-required accuracy, KeelWit used ANSYS software (ANSYS Fluent and ANSYS High-Performance Computing) alongside Gompute on Demand cloud resources.

With ANSYS Fluent and ANSYS HPC in the cloud, KeelWit ran high-fidelity mesh dependency, sensitivity and optimization studies, reducing development time by a factor of four and testing over 50 operating conditions. The ANSYS-driven solution cut total pressure drop to about 60–70% of competitors’ designs, improved energy efficiency, enabled real design modifications installed by clients, and delivered measurable performance gains across the operating envelope.
