High quality meshes lead to faster turnaround time

HyPerComp, Inc., a developer of high-performance computing solutions for defense, energy and commercial product design, faced the challenge that pre-processing—creating higher-order geometry representations and surface/volume grids—is time-consuming yet critical to simulation accuracy and efficiency. To support its Computational ElectroMagnetics (CEM), Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and Magnetohydrodynamics (MHD) solvers, HyPerComp, Inc. turned to ANSYS and specifically the ANSYS ICEM CFD tools for mesh generation.

ANSYS delivered a solution using ICEM CFD Hexa, Tetra and hybrid grid tools to produce high-quality tetrahedral, hexahedral and hybrid meshes, repair geometry, and streamline IGES import and solver-format conversion for parallel runs. The ANSYS solution reduced cycle time and minimized pre-processing effort, yielding faster turnaround for multidisciplinary simulations and improved solver accuracy, with ANSYS customer support adding timely assistance.
