FEM Analysis from Bois HD Reinforces Atelier Normand’s Wooden Structures

Bois HD, an engineering services company working with the Atelier Normand, faced the challenge of helping small French wood‑working and construction firms quickly design and certify increasingly complex wooden structures — including platforms with added functions — while meeting safety regulations such as Eurocode 0, 1 and 5. To address structural, acoustic and fluid questions and to respond rapidly to regulatory queries, Bois HD deployed the ANSYS platform, using ANSYS Mechanical for detailed simulation and validation.

Using ANSYS Mechanical, Bois HD created FEM models from CAD (3D solids, shells and beams), predicted component behavior, identified weak zones and guided targeted reinforcements to ensure compliance. The ANSYS‑based approach quantified safety margins, integrated with BIM, and delivered answers to regulators at least two times faster and cheaper than classical methods, enabling designers to produce more complex, code‑compliant structures in roughly half the time.
