Case Study: Elecon Engineering Company Limited achieves fast development of a reliable gearbox with ANSYS Mechanical

A ANSYS Case Study

Preview of the Elecon Engineering Company Limited Case Study

Engineering simulation enables fast development of a reliable gearbox

Elecon Engineering Company Limited, Asia’s largest industrial gearbox manufacturer, needed to rapidly evaluate gear-tooth performance across materials and manufacturing processes to deliver reliable gearboxes that meet market demand. Key failure drivers—tooth bending, surface distress and deflection—had to be assessed quickly and accurately, so Elecon worked with ANSYS using ANSYS Mechanical to accelerate its gearbox design and validation workflows.

Using ANSYS Mechanical, Elecon built detailed 3‑D gear and pinion models with refined contact meshing, applied pressure-line loads and ran transient frictional-contact simulations. ANSYS-enabled analyses produced accurate, customized reports of loads, stresses, deformation and transmission errors, helped identify potential failure modes early, predicted and minimized misalignment across the load range, reduced prototype testing through virtual validation, and enabled Elecon to design reliable gears more quickly to meet customer demands.
