Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is a global humanitarian medical organization that delivers emergency care, clean water and supplies across more than 70 countries through a network of over 41,000 field staff. MSF needed a way to increase field awareness and access to institutional knowledge, build peer-to-peer relationships, share field-developed solutions quickly and give staff equal, autonomous access to expertise and best practices across the organization.

Since 2017 MSF has used AnswerHub’s community platform—Q&A, Topics, notifications, comments and gamification—to centralize knowledge, surface subject-matter experts and enable fast, reusable answers. The platform boosted collaboration and decision-making, amplified frontline voices, and made up-to-date protocols (including COVID-19 guidance) widely available; within two weeks of launching a COVID space it became a global meeting point, reducing duplication of effort and improving efficiency and unity across MSF.
