CloudPhysics, a Mountain View company founded by engineers from VMware, Google and Cadence, delivers Big Data analytics and patent‑pending datacenter simulation to help IT teams uncover inefficiencies and run “what if” analyses. The team faced the operational challenge of managing and provisioning assets in AWS for their Datacenter Operations Management as a Service.

They replaced ad hoc scripts with Ansible as their first orchestration solution, using it to requisition and provision AWS resources and deploy application components. The switch made the team more productive and simplified troubleshooting—Ansible’s combination of orchestration and configuration management made dependency and configuration issues much easier to diagnose.
