A Ansible Case Study
BinckBank, an Amsterdam-based online investment bank with more than 760,000 accounts and 590 employees across the Netherlands, Belgium, France and Italy, faced growing datacenter complexity and wanted automation that was simple to adopt without extensive training. Their previous reliance on custom scripts was time-consuming and error-prone, and they needed a lightweight, readable solution to manage hundreds of UNIX servers and roll out changes quickly.
They deployed Ansible across roughly 600 UNIX servers, using SSH-based playbooks to push changes at scale and integrating with Nagios and Cobbler for automated provisioning and self-healing workflows, and later added Ansible Tower to expose templates to non-technical users. The result was faster, reliable deployments (commands sent to hundreds of servers in minutes), reduced manual scripting and late-night fixes, consistent, auditable installs, and the confidence to expand automation across the datacenter.
