Simply Recipes faced the challenge of creating highly shareable social content quickly to drive traffic to its recipe site. Founder Elise Bauer used Animoto’s video tools (Marketing Video, including the new square format) to turn still photos into short, engaging videos in about 10 minutes, testing whether square videos would boost social performance.
Animoto helped by enabling an A/B test of a square vs. landscape video for an Italian Meatballs recipe; both were identical except format and ran as Facebook ads to the same audience. The square video delivered 2X the engagement and reach, plus 67% more views, 59% more reactions and 39% more link clicks, and the organic square post later earned 20,683 views, 644 reactions and 381 shares—demonstrating Animoto’s measurable impact.
