Cyngor Gwynedd rolls out VR Welsh learning with Animated Technologies across 105 headsets

Cyngor Gwynedd sought an innovative way to help pupils aged 7 to 14 learn Welsh and boost their confidence in using the language. They engaged Animated Technologies to create an engaging tool that would fit with the current curriculum.

Animated Technologies developed Aberwla, a virtual reality application that immerses children in a Welsh-speaking environment to practice language skills in real-life scenarios. The solution included important safeguarding features managed via ManageXR. The app was successfully introduced across multiple immersion centres with 105 headsets distributed, and it won the Best Education Application Award at the Wales Technology Awards 2024.
