Columbia Sportswear - Customer Case Study

Columbia Sportswear, the Portland-based apparel and footwear company, confronted a major setback when a 2012 SAP rollout in Canada suffered from poor communication and no standardized training. To address this, the company launched Global Business Transformation (GBT), shifting from an IT-only project to an organization-wide change initiative that emphasized change management and broader employee engagement.

GBT used a train‑the‑trainer approach and ANCILE uPerform to deliver a blended learning curriculum and build a global super‑user network. Between July 2013 and April 2014 trainers logged over 2,000 hours of train‑the‑trainer sessions and delivered 150 courses (65 business‑process and 85 hands‑on), 1,000 uPerform work instructions, 250 scenario exercises, 284 course offerings and roughly 25,000 hours of training. The effort earned a Brandon Hall Bronze award, established a Center of Excellence, and set the stage for continued adoption and future use of uPerform’s Rapid Recorder.
