How Virtual COVID-19 Programs Can Help

Ochsner Health, Louisiana’s largest non‑profit academic health system, faced the challenge of helping employers and employees return to work safely during the COVID‑19 pandemic while protecting patients and staff. To expand virtual triage, testing, and care, Ochsner rapidly scaled its telehealth program using its Ochsner Anywhere Care app, which is powered by Amwell, to train providers and deliver remote visits.

Ochsner’s Safe to Return program combines in‑person screening stations with virtual screening rooms (iPads running Ochsner Anywhere Care powered by Amwell plus TytoCare kits), same‑day prescription delivery, PPE, sanitizing supplies, and employer communications. The effort has supported over 150,000 virtual visits since March and more than 70 local employers are using Ochsner’s virtual employer clinics, demonstrating measurable uptake and reduced exposure risk with Amwell‑powered telehealth at the core.
