Scottish Water Building a Digital Platform for all Seasons

Scottish Water, a publicly owned utility company, sought to improve the maintenance of its vast network of water and waste water assets by digitizing the way its field operatives collect and share knowledge. Their challenge was to move away from inefficient paper-based records stored on-site and create a digital platform that could harness the expertise of their field teams. They partnered with vendor AMT-SYBEX to realize this vision.

AMT-SYBEX implemented a solution using ruggedized tablets and its Affinity Fieldreach software, giving operatives real-time access to and the ability to edit asset records in the central Ellipse system from any location. This eliminated paperwork and improved data visibility. The results were highly positive: a pilot project survey showed 100% of operatives believed the solution would improve data quality, and 80% thought it would help avoid unnecessary site visits, saving time and travel costs.
