Safeguarding the National Transmission system

National Grid, the sole operator of the UK's gas transmission infrastructure, faced the challenge of managing risk to its extensive pipeline network caused by numerous disparate systems for assets, incidents, and GIS mapping. To gain greater insight and improve information visibility, they engaged vendor AMT-SYBEX to integrate these systems for a more robust risk management framework.

AMT-SYBEX implemented a solution that integrated National Grid's core Ellipse asset management system with its incident management (EAGLES, SRP) and GIS systems. This created a set of automated processes that improved data visibility, streamlined work order generation for field teams, and provided a full historical audit trail. The results included more effective risk pattern detection, improved co-ordination of field work, and a strengthened ability to prove compliance during audits.
