Network Rail verifies 22,000 assets with AMT-SYBEX

Network Rail, the owner and operator of the UK's rail infrastructure, faced the challenge of managing a vast and complex asset portfolio with outdated, paper-based records. To support its ORBIS initiative and move to a proactive maintenance strategy, it needed an accurate digital catalogue of its assets, starting with 22,000 switches and crossings. The company partnered with vendor AMT-SYBEX to develop a mobile solution for its field engineers.

AMT-SYBEX implemented a mobile solution based on its Fieldreach software for use on ruggedized iPhones and iPads. This enabled over 3,500 field users to electronically capture, verify, and synchronize asset data with the central Ellipse system. The project was completed on schedule, verifying all 22,000 assets. Users rated the application highly for usability, and the accurate data now allows Network Rail to make more informed maintenance and investment decisions, optimizing safety and operating performance.
