Network Rail, the UK’s rail infrastructure operator, needed to improve the safety and efficiency of its vast asset network by creating a reliable, up-to-date catalogue of critical infrastructure, starting with its 22,000 switches and crossings. To do this, it worked with AMT-SYBEX and its Fieldreach mobile platform to replace paper-based asset verification with a more accurate, proactive approach to asset management.

AMT-SYBEX implemented a Fieldreach-based mobile solution on ruggedised iPhones and iPads, integrated with Network Rail’s Ellipse system so field teams could capture, verify, and sync asset data directly from the field. The rollout equipped around 3,500 users and supported about 1,700 inspections, helping Network Rail verify all 22,000 S&C assets by the September 2013 deadline; users also rated the app 5.5 out of 7 for usability.
