National Grid Improving efficiency in the field with a fully integrated, multi-platform mobile working solution

National Grid, one of the UK’s largest utilities, needed to replace an end-of-life mobile solution with a modern, multi-platform architecture while preserving years of investment in its field data capture processes. Working with AMT-SYBEX, the company looked for a way to keep its existing data collection scripts and support field work across both Windows and iOS devices.

AMT-SYBEX helped National Grid integrate Affinity Fieldreach with Ellipse, SAP Mobile/Work Manager and other systems into a single mobile architecture with single sign-on. The new solution enabled engineers to access and update asset, maintenance and cost data in seconds, improved data quality and scheduling, and rolled out to 1,400 field staff on Windows laptops plus 200 iPads in the first wave, with strong user adoption and a wider rollout planned.
