Case Study: UK Power Networks streamlines small asset management with AMT-SYBEX

Creating a single centralised solution for managing small assets

UK Power Networks, one of the UK’s largest distribution network operators, needed a better way to manage around 100,000 small assets such as tools, ladders and testing equipment. Working with AMT-SYBEX and its Ellipse asset management system, the company wanted to replace fragmented legacy databases and spreadsheets with a single approach that would improve safety, maintenance scheduling and compliance with regulations and quality standards.

AMT-SYBEX helped UK Power Networks create the Small Asset Database System (SADS), combining Ellipse with a flexible web interface built on Affinity Systemreach. The solution migrated data from 17 legacy systems into one central source of truth, automated vendor calibration processes, and gave supervisors better visibility of asset status. As a result, UK Power Networks reduced software and administration costs, improved data quality and reporting, and made maintenance and procurement more efficient.
