A AMS.NET Case Study
Saratoga Union School District, a K-8 district in Saratoga, California, needed a more reliable and cost-effective way to communicate with staff and parents. After an aging PBX began to fail, the district looked for a solution that could improve reliability, support internal management of phone changes, and reduce ongoing maintenance and service costs. AMS.NET helped the district move toward Cisco Unified Communications, including Cisco Unified Communications Manager Express and Cisco Unity Express.
AMS.NET implemented a phased Cisco Unified Communications deployment across the district, replacing PBX systems with Cisco Integrated Services Routers, Cisco Unified IP Phones, and unified voicemail. The new system simplified communications, enabled the district to manage moves/adds/changes internally, and eliminated US$8,000 in annual service fees. It also improved reliability and flexibility, with features like four-digit dialing, voicemail forwarding, and prioritized voice traffic, all while using a single Cisco SMARTnet support contract.
