Menlo College, a private four-year college in Atherton, California, needed to replace an aging, limited campus network that only reached part of campus and left dorm students without direct data access or in-house phone service. To stay competitive and support students, faculty, and staff, the college looked for a scalable voice and data solution, working with AMS.NET and VOICEPRO on a Cisco AVVID-based IP telephony and network upgrade.

AMS.NET designed and installed the Gigabit Ethernet backbone, coordinated subcontractors, and helped deliver a converged voice and data network across campus, while VOICEPRO handled the phone system. The project was completed in just three months and gave Menlo College IP phones, expanded Ethernet access in dorms, and better internal services such as email, work orders, and expense reporting; the college also estimated annual savings of about $45,000 from streamlined student moves alone.
