How Patreon Uses Amplitude to Get Their Creators Paid

Patreon, the membership platform for creators with over 100,000 creators and two million subscription memberships, needed to increase paid monthly subscriptions to help creators earn more. The product team’s challenge was to understand and optimize the pledge/checkout flow—identifying which UX changes actually drove conversions across mobile and web.

Using Amplitude for event segmentation and funnel analysis, Patreon discovered that increasing entrance points to the pledge flow and a new “blurred posts” feature (click-to-unlock posts that link to checkout) significantly boosted conversions. The change doubled conversion rates on creator pages, gave 30+ employees self-serve access to trusted product data, and enabled dozens of data-informed product improvements.
