Case Study: Le Monde achieves 20% increase in online subscriptions with Amplitude

A Amplitude Case Study

Preview of the Le Monde Case Study

How Le Monde used data to increase online subscriptions by 20 percent

Le Monde, a leading French newspaper with a subscription-driven digital model, needed to grow online subscriptions and improve retention by better understanding which content to gate and how readers moved through the subscription flow. As they prepared a site redesign, the team also had to carefully monitor KPIs and quickly detect/report bugs that were preventing paid users from accessing gated content.

Using Amplitude’s analytics (funnels, segmentation, retention and Microscope), Le Monde unified the homepage for all readers, surfaced the most engaging paid content with clear subscription flags, and rolled out the redesign gradually while monitoring impact. The effort drove a 20% increase in online subscriptions and a 46% lift in subscriber conversions, cut time-to-insight to minutes, fixed access bugs so ~97% of web subscribers can reach gated content, and expanded data access across the team—reducing support load and improving retention analysis.
