Fishbrain, a leading social mobile app for sport fishing that lets users log catches, share photos and connect with other anglers, needed to improve user retention. They engaged Phiture after an audit to develop a data-driven CRM and lifecycle strategy focused on identifying key user behaviors that predict long-term engagement.
Phiture used Amplitude and Braze together to run roughly 40–50 hypothesis-driven experiments over five months—syncing cohorts and test/control groups via webhook—to deliver targeted in-app messages, push notifications and emails while improving email deliverability with a dedicated IP. The program drove substantial gains: week-6 retention rose 50.6% for treated users, Gmail open rates jumped 1,300%, paid conversions increased 14.9% within a day, and the work won Best Retention Campaign at the 2019 App Growth Awards.
