A Amplifire Case Study
Sepsis, a national healthcare alliance focused on reducing sepsis morbidity and mortality, faced a major clinical challenge: sepsis is often missed or mismanaged, treatment guidance changes frequently, and knowledge gaps among clinicians can lead to dangerous delays in diagnosis and care. To better understand what hospitalists and other clinicians knew about sepsis, Sepsis partnered with Amplifire and used its confidence-based e-learning platform for a nationwide study.
Amplifire delivered an accredited, evidence-based 31-question sepsis course that measured both knowledge and confidence, then adapted in real time to correct misinformation and uncertainty. In the study of 1,245 clinicians across 23 health organizations, Amplifire identified 7,795 instances of confidently held misinformation and 14,500 instances of uncertainty; by the end, 100% of participants who completed the course were confident and correct on all topics. The average completion time was 46 minutes, with highly knowledgeable clinicians finishing in 27 minutes and those with lower baseline knowledge taking 75 minutes.
