Duke Infection Control Outreach Network - Customer Case Study

Duke Infection Control Outreach Network partnered with Amplifire to address a serious challenge in safe injection practices among caregivers. In a pilot of 160 clinicians, mostly RNs, the network found that clinicians were confidently and correctly answering only 42% of the time, with 25% of responses representing confidently held misinformation that could increase the risk of infection and patient harm.

Amplifire implemented a cloud-based learning solution that measures both knowledge and confidence, using brain-based learning techniques to expose and correct misinformation. The pilot helped identify knowledge gaps and improve mastery through targeted learning sessions, with before-and-after heat maps documenting progress; the effort supported safer practice in a setting where the CDC has linked unsafe injection practices to dozens of outbreaks and more than 95,000 potentially exposed patients.
