Microsoft cuts diesel use 74% with Ampd Energy

Microsoft required its new data center construction project in Melbourne, built by the Kapitol Group, to align with its ambitious sustainability goals. The challenge was to reduce the significant reliance on diesel generators for temporary site power. To address this, contractor Kapitol Group engaged vendor Ampd Energy for a cleaner power solution.

Ampd Energy deployed its Enertainer battery energy storage systems to power the site's tower cranes. This solution drastically reduced diesel consumption by an estimated 74,345 liters, cutting carbon emissions by 125 tonnes and operating costs by 32%. The implementation by Ampd Energy also resulted in a much quieter worksite, supporting Microsoft's commitment to a sustainable build.
