A AMP Case Study
The Southeastern Public Service Authority (SPSA), a regional waste management authority in Virginia, faced a critical long-term challenge: its landfill was projected to reach capacity by 2060 with no room to expand. At the same time, its member communities were paying exorbitant costs for traditional recycling. SPSA needed a solution to extend its landfill's life indefinitely and reduce recycling expenses without owning or operating a facility itself. It selected vendor AMP through an RFP process.
AMP implemented an AI-powered system that integrates directly into SPSA's existing transfer station network. The AMP ONE platform processes raw municipal solid waste, separating it into recyclable streams and converting organic material into biochar. This solution, backed by a 20-year operations agreement, doubled the landfill's operational life and reduced recycling costs for member communities. The AMP system guarantees a 50% diversion rate, processing 540,000 tons of waste yearly and establishing a national blueprint for waste management.
