World First Approach Towards Decarbonisation at City-Scale

Bristol City Leap engaged Ameresco to help decarbonise the city through a world-first, city-scale programme targeting net zero by 2030. Facing the challenge of upgrading infrastructure across 34 ward areas, the project is a 20-year concession to deliver energy efficiency, renewable generation (wind and solar), EV charging, district heating and long‑term operations and maintenance alongside project financing.

Ameresco (in partnership with Vattenfall Heat UK) is delivering energy efficiency upgrades, wind and solar installations, grid optimisation, district heat and long‑term O&M under a public‑private partnership. Over the first five years the programme is forecast to cut ~140,000 tonnes of CO2, deliver c182 MW of zero‑carbon generation and 120 GWh of low‑carbon heat, attract £424M capital investment, create 1,000+ local jobs and generate c£61M of social value.
