A Ameresco Case Study
The Town of Ashland engaged Ameresco to tackle rising energy costs, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and bring a capped municipal landfill into compliance with the Massachusetts DEP. Ameresco proposed solar photovoltaic projects — 5,500 panels totaling 1,800 kW DC — paired with a 20‑year power purchase agreement to deliver economic and environmental benefits across multiple town sites.
Ameresco designed, permitted, financed, built, owns and operates three solar systems (middle school roof, high school parking lot, and landfill), secured SREC incentives, and provides ongoing O&M. Via net metering, 100% of the generation powers town operations, producing 2.2 million kWh in annual savings and cutting CO2 emissions by 1,632 metric tons while restoring landfill compliance.
