A Ameresco Case Study
Roxbury Community College (RCC) partnered with Ameresco to modernize campus energy systems, reduce operating costs, and shrink its carbon footprint. The engagement was a $20 million comprehensive energy and water upgrade that included an energy management system, geothermal heat pump installation, LED lighting retrofits, and a photovoltaic solar canopy.
Ameresco implemented 23 energy conservation measures—installing 115 geothermic wells, a 400‑ton geothermal heat pump, and a 3,000‑panel/1 million kWh solar canopy—delivered as a budget‑neutral plan. The project cut annual emissions by 5,689,934 pounds of CO2, achieved $860,000 in annual energy savings, and freed funds for other campus improvements.
