Preview of the City of Edmundston Case Study

Renewable Energy and Microgrid Project to Reduce City’s Carbon Footprint

The City of Edmundston partnered with Ameresco to reduce its carbon footprint while improving energy management at key municipal facilities. The city wanted a renewable energy and microgrid solution that could support peak shaving, strengthen resiliency, and advance its sustainability goals.

Ameresco is implementing a microgrid project that includes 1 MW of roof-mounted solar PV across the Jean-Daigle Center and Sports Pavilion, along with a 2 MWh battery energy storage system. The project is expected to offset about 360 metric tons of CO2 annually, improve grid resiliency, provide backup power capabilities, and help the city better manage peak demand.
