A Ameresco Case Study
Reed College sought to reduce its environmental impact and improve building livability across its 45-building urban campus after its centennial. The college engaged Ameresco for a $5.4 million, campus-wide Energy Savings Performance Contract focused on central plant upgrades, energy efficiency, interior lighting and controls, and water-efficiency improvements.
Ameresco replaced aging steam boilers, installed campus-wide steam meters and an energy dashboard, upgraded controls in multiple buildings, completed interior/exterior lighting retrofits, and replaced water fixtures. The project cut annual CO2 emissions by 1,277 metric tons (equivalent to removing 273 cars), delivered more than $250,000 in annual energy savings, and secured over $344,000 in utility incentives while improving campus comfort and visibility.
