Partnership with holy cross energy & colorado mountain college for solar and battery energy storage project

Holy Cross Energy, a not-for-profit rural electric cooperative serving roughly 45,000 members in Western Colorado, needed to accelerate its 100x30 goal of sourcing 100% renewable electricity by 2030 while keeping power supply costs low. Ameresco partnered with Holy Cross Energy under a Power Purchase Agreement to deliver the required clean energy capacity, providing 5 MW of solar PV and 15 MWh of battery energy storage sited on land leased from Colorado Mountain College.

Ameresco designed, built, owns, operates and maintains the facilities and sells the generated output to Holy Cross Energy, enabling HCE to increase renewable supply and work toward net-zero emissions by 2035. The project is expected to avoid about 6,853 metric tons of CO2 annually (equivalent to removing 1,481 passenger vehicles from the road), with construction completed in Q1 2022, directly advancing Ameresco’s and HCE’s clean-energy and community sustainability goals.
