Mead Johnson & Company Reduces Annual CO2 Emissions by 24,000 Tons

Mead Johnson Nutrition Evansville needed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and secure a significant portion of its manufacturing energy supply at the Evansville, IN facility. The company selected Ameresco to deliver a landfill‑to‑gas energy solution (power purchase agreement/renewable energy) to replace natural gas in its steam boilers and lower reliance on fossil‑fuel power.

Ameresco designed and built a five‑mile pipeline (installed via horizontal directional drilling), installed two‑stage blower stations sized for 2,000 SCFM, and upgraded boiler burners to use landfill gas, providing roughly 3.8 MW of capacity. The project became fully operational quickly, avoided traffic or property disruption, displaced traditional fuel sources, and cut annual CO2 emissions by about 24,000 tons.
