Lendlease Partners With Ameresco for $102 Million Clean Energy Modernization Project at Hickam Communities

The customer, Lendlease, manages a large portfolio of privatized military housing and sought to implement comprehensive energy efficiency and modernization upgrades at its Hickam Communities on a Hawaii air force base. They partnered with the vendor Ameresco to fund and execute this project, aiming to reduce energy consumption, lower carbon emissions, and improve resident comfort without relying on congressional appropriations.

Ameresco implemented a holistic solution, which included installing high-efficiency water source heat pump systems, smart thermostats, LED lighting, and a web-enabled smart irrigation control system. This project is expected to decrease grid-tied energy consumption by 30% and generate $13 million in annual cost savings, which will fund the $102 million project and a 25-year operations and maintenance agreement with Ameresco.
