Integrated Microgrid Takes California Fresh Vegetable Production Facility Off the Grid

Taylor Farms, North America’s largest producer of fresh foods, needed a more reliable and predictable power solution for its San Juan Bautista, California food processing facility amid rising energy costs and grid reliability concerns. Ameresco partnered with Taylor Farms to help address these challenges with an integrated microgrid and battery energy storage solution.

Ameresco implemented a microgrid combining a 2 MW / 4 MWh battery energy storage system, 6 MW of Bloom Energy fuel cells, and 2 MW of solar power from Concept Clean Energy to support the facility’s 365/24/7 power needs. The system is designed to power the entire 450,000 sq. ft. facility and help Taylor Farms move off the traditional grid while improving resilience, energy stability, and price predictability.
