Preview of the Carmarthenshire County Council Case Study

In pursuit of Net Zero Carbon by 2030, the Council will reduce carbon emissions by 675 tonnes annually through efficiency measures & solar

Carmarthenshire County Council (Wales, UK) set a target of Net Zero Carbon by 2030 and needed substantial reductions in energy use and onsite renewables across its 129,643 m² estate. To achieve this, the Council engaged Ameresco to deliver a comprehensive package of Energy Conservation Measures (ECMs) — including building management system upgrades, boiler and HVAC optimisation, LED lighting and controls, building fabric improvements, water efficiencies and solar PV.

Ameresco delivered a £2 million programme of ECMs (including a 467 kW solar PV installation) supported by an Energy Performance Contract and 12 months’ post-completion maintenance. The project is projected to save 2,085,537 kWh and £315,726 annually, cut CO2 emissions by 675 tonnes per year, extend asset life and improve occupant comfort, with savings guaranteed by Ameresco.
