Federal Energy Management Program - Customer Case Study

The Federal Energy Management Program engaged Ameresco to address aging infrastructure and high energy costs across Veterans Integrated Service Network (VISN) Region 6 medical facilities. The customer sought comprehensive energy efficiency improvements delivered through an Energy Savings Performance Contract (ESPC) to modernize equipment and reduce operating expenses.

Ameresco performed an investment‑grade audit and then designed, built, measured, verified and trained staff on upgrades under a $27.5 million ESPC, including major mechanical and heating replacements, lighting and electrical retrofits, and new efficient washers and dryers. Ameresco’s work upgraded 60 buildings (about 8 million sq ft) across a three‑state region, delivered annual energy cost savings of $1,520,920, reduced the carbon footprint, and enabled reinvestment of savings into further facility improvements.
