Eastman Chemical Company - Customer Case Study

Eastman Chemical Company, one of North America’s largest chemical manufacturing sites, needed to reduce operating costs, avoid new capital expenditures, and expand plant capacity while improving reliability. Under a long-term Master Energy Services Agreement, Ameresco was engaged to provide energy efficiency and facility renewal services including compressed air system upgrades, pumping-station modernization, plant & instrument air improvements, and refrigeration system conversion.

Ameresco delivered a suite of projects—adding a 25,000 scfm compressor and automating TPA compressed air systems, replacing steam-driven pumps with electric motor-driven pumps and new controls at the B‑63 pumping station, upgrading dryers and controls for plant & instrument air, and converting AY scrubber cooling from ammonia to glycol—resulting in increased compressed-air capacity, reduced venting, restored pump capacity, lower O&M and energy costs, labor savings via remote monitoring, avoided capital outlays, and projects that are self-funded from the energy savings for Eastman Chemical Company.
